Hello, fellow scholars! As a proud Chevening scholar of the 2023-24 cohort under the Chevening Scholarship, I'm excited to share my interview experience. The panel, comprising two Chevening representatives and one from Adani, fostered a comfortable environment. I prepared for the interview by crafting responses to key questions. In this blog, I'll share these questions to help future Chevening applicants. Join me on this journey as we delve into a conversation that goes beyond academics, exploring the unique blend of scholarship and industry impact.
Duration of interview: 30 mins
No of questions: 5-8
Panelists- 2-5 members (I had 2 panelists in my interview)
Compilation of questions that you could prepare for:
1. General :- Tell us about yourself in less than one minute
- Why this scholarship?
- Why are you doing masters at this point in your career?
- Role Model- Industry, leadership, General
- What does failure mean to you?
- Tell us about a failure in your life and how did you deal with it?
- Where do you see yourself in next 5 years, what is the role of Chevening in it?
- Immediate plan after returning back to home country?
- Current state of relationship between UK and your home country in your current area of study.
- What traits of you are you proud about?
- What are few things that you will consider as an accomplishment during your stay in UK?
- Current state of your application with each of those university you mentioned in your Chevening application.
2. Leadership:
- Leadership example in current role
- Unpopular decision during leadership and how did you convince your team on your decision
- One leadership trait that you have admired the most from others
3. Networking:
- Examples of networking in current job
- What advice would you give to someone newly starting a job about importance of networking skills
- What is your networking style and how did you benefit from it
- How will you contribute to Chevening community in your home country?
4. About UK:
- What other activities do you plan to do in the UK?
- What cultural aspects of the UK would you like to explore?
- What challenges do you expect to face in the UK?
- How do you plan to utilize the Chevening community for your benefit ?
5. Course and Career:
- How will the chosen course help you to develop your skills and achieve your career goals ?
- Problems in the current field and how will this chosen course help solve those problems?
- How does your career plan relate to the work done by the UK in India?
- Plan after returning to your home country?
- What would you advise someone who is starting a career in your profession.
